Defrosting the cake topper

Has anyone done this? Our 1st anniversary is fast approaching and I wanted to know the best way to thaw the cake topper. I didn't eat anything but icing on the day of the wedding and would like to actually eat my wedding cake.....even a year old.

Re: Defrosting the cake topper

  • 3 days before I put it in the fridge. The morning of I left it on the counter (Still wrapped up).

When we ate it after dinner it was room temp & totally delicious!!!

  • DH was in Iraq so I cut half of it while still frozen and mailed his half to him.  I left my half in the fridge until he called and we ate it together.

Honestly, it tasted like it was just made.

Confession:  We still have it sitting in Tupperware containers in our fridge because we don't have the heart to throw it out.  I've had several bites of it on numerous occasions since our anniversary.  It still tastes delicious.

  • That is so sweet you sent him his half. So I will take the advice and put it in the fridge 3 days prior...first I have to go get it from mom's.

  • Thanks for posting this Diana!  I was wondering the same thing.  I had read similar advice but its good to know it worked out!  We also barely had any cake at the reception--except the stuff we smashed Big Smile

  • Same as PP for me - three days before it went in fridge, morning of it went on the counter, and then we ate it after dinner. YUM. I too have nothing to compare it to, since I did not have anything more than the ceremonial bite on the day of, but it tasted very good on our anniversary!!! Have fun!
