I would like to have couples night at my home. Any suggestions for games and menu? I also would like to do small gifts for the winners.Maybe a bottle of wine, Gift card to Starbucks,Shot Glasses.
Re: Couples Night?
Depending on your group of friends, phase 10. It's a card game that my husband and I and a few other couples love. We've all gotten together three times now just to hang out, play and have drinks.
For menu, if your doing games I suggest appetizers and finger foods rather than a full fledged meal.
Partini is a fun game for a larger group of people.
I would just set out a few snacky type food so people can graze as they get hungry.
Our group likes Phase 10 as well. Cranium's really popular too. I agree on just doing finger foods instead of a sit-down meal.
Here are a couple ideas: link, link.

Thinking of doing cosmetic updates to a dated home? These were our costs.
Ditto the finger food.
I went to a housewarming recently and it was mostly couples.
The first 1.5 hours or so we had a poker table,a spades table and wii bowling going all at the same time.
The last hour we played Guesstures.....so much fun!

I second Apples to Apples... so much fun!
Some "heavy" finger foods are a great way to go. Grilled chicken tenders can be made ahead of time and served with a variety of dipping sauces. Meatballs or even Meatball sliders are fun! I love using crostini because you can put just about anything on top and they are yummy! Some of my favorite have been filet with sweet gorgonzola and arugula, fresh mozzarella with either basil and tomato (classic caprese) or roll bit size pieces of blanched asparagus with prosciutto.
One fun snack is homemade flavored popcorn. If you want to get really fancy, you can use sea salt and truffle butter and a little cracked pepper. Otherwise, I love Old Bay Seasoning on my popcorn. I'm not a microwave popcorn fan, and since popcorn is so inexpensive and easy to make on the stove top... I think you can't go wrong with it.
Ina Garten takes raw cashews and heats them with a bit of rosemary, salt and pepper... I have done this a lot and it's always yummy!
Again, if you want to get fancy, Barbara Lynch has a recipe for easy homemade ricotta. It takes a little bit of time, but you can make it a few days ahead, it makes a good amount and it it amazing! (And how fun is it to say that you made cheese for an appetizer?) I serve the ricotta with a good scali bread, raspberry or fig jam and good olive oil. The ricotta has been a big hit.
I love the Starbucks gift card idea... also enjoy a bottle of wine. If you have time, it can be fun to put together a cute recipe book featuring your favorite cocktails, any appetizers you may have served etc. These make fun party favors, especially if you can tie it to a small bag of homemade cookies or something. : )
Have a great party!
Thank You
Love the ideas. For the menu I came up with chicken kababs, wings, crab rice, crab cakes, chicken tenders, pasta salad, Grilled Veggies, Sangria, Wine and Beer.
