holy awkward conversation!

I was just on the phone with my grandmother a few minutes ago, and I know she thinks it's just hilarious when she makes sexual innuendos about her and my grandfather (ew), and I love that she's all feisty and stuff, but GEESH!

Greg and I stayed at their house over the weekend while visiting some friends, and I got sick in the middle of the night for no reason-- sat up at 4 am, ran downstairs, dry heaved for about 20 minutes, then felt fine. It was weird. She wasn't there the next morning when we left, so I haven't talked to her about it until today.

She goes, "So, I heard you got a little sick... a little... nauseous? How are you feeling now?"

Me: "I'm feeling fine! Tired, but fine!"

Nana: "You're not pregnant are you? You're still on the pill?"

Me:"NO I'm not pregnant, but no, I'm not on the pill anymore, Greg and I are charting!"

Nana: "Hmmm... that's playing with fire! You better make sure Greg puts on a raincoat before playing outside!"

Silence.

Me: "Ok Nana, BYE!"

  • BAHAHAHA!!! That's awesome!

Sex has always been an open topic of conversation in my family.  That being said, my Grams wasn't usually involved in said conversations.

    Ew.

  • She never use to say stuff like this to me, then I turned 21 and it was BAM! Floodgates opened!

I remember calling her from college telling her that I wouldn't be coming home that weekend, and her saying, "Oh goooood, that means Poppop and I have time to use our sensual candles I just bought! Teeheehe!"

I guess I should be use to it by now, but blech!

  • LOL.  My 85 year old grandmother made a joke about 69 at my small intimate wedding.  I was totally like Indifferent.
  • hahaha omg! she said raincoat!

my grandmother told me (after i told her jay and i were thinking of waiting til 30 for kids) that my eggs were going dry up and that Jay's sperm weren't going to swim.  I thought I was going to die!!

  • HAHAHAHA wow! I would have died if my grandma said anything like that to me! LOL

  • Oh my GOSH. I would have died. Every once in a while my mother will say something sex-related, and it's the most awkward thing. I can't imagine my grandma saying anything like that!
  • LOL!  I've never had to deal with any family member saying anything related to sex.  And I am very grateful for that.  I watched Hangover with my dad and that was mortifying enough.  I would die.

  • Oh my word and day! I am not sure i would be able to handle my grandmother saying anything like that let alone saying things like raincoat that would give me nightmares.
  • That is the funniest thing I've heard all day. The day after our wedding, we went out to breakfast with immediate family including grandparents and my grandmother asked how I was and I said I'm tired and she said well what were you doing last night?!

We got to Bible study a little late one Sunday morning a couple of weeks after the wedding. Everybody was excited to see us back, married and all. I could have done without the one older lady coming up and saying "Well, I guess we know what you two have been doing to make you late!" wink, wink. Mortifying.

Yes, it is. Whether it's your family or anyone. I swear people think you only have sex when you are newlyweds and that's it.

I went to the theater to see this with now DH, his grandfather and two uncles.  We sat in one row and they sat right behind us (it was a super small theater we all wouldn't have fit in one row).  Anyway  I was fine through the movie and then his grandfather just HAD to comment about the pictures during the credits.  I hesitantly laughed and was a combination of these: IndifferentEmbarrassed

The credits were definitely the worst part! We were watching it at our house so I grabbed the remote and turned it off as fast as I could!
