Re: ++MrsDarling++

  • Hi Beth!

    It's for a new position in our Marketing dept, Manager of Web-Based Marketing.  I was freaking out because I interviewed with the head of the division (my boss reports to her) with about 40 minutes' notice.  She had to leave town and wanted to talk to me first.  Once I got over my initial jitters I think it went pretty well.  She liked a lot of my ideas!

    Yesterday I interviewed again with the VP of Marketing, who I already know because I worked in that dept for 5 years.  We had a good interview too, he put his focus on different areas than the first interview, so between the two of them I think all bases were covered.

    There are a few obstacles to my being hired, one being that J works in Marketing and there's a policy against people who are related working in the same department.  Tricky.  The other is that I have no specific experience with web-based marketing, and only a little in management.  I have tons of ideas but I'd have a lot to learn in a short time.

    Fortunately, I have a reputation here for being smart, catching on quickly, and doing good work.  I'm not an obvious front-runner, but the fact that I got to the interview stage is encouraging!  When I put my name in, I wasn't sure if I would get that far, but it never hurts to let them know you're interested, right?

  • Well it sure sounds like you are a contender, interviews with the head of the division and the Marketing VP, they surely wouldn't waste their time if you weren't worth it!!  ALWAYS let them know you're interested, you never know what opportunities may present themselves even if you don't get this promotion.  Good for you!
