Kids' Activities

Hello All,

My daughter's adoption is coming up and we are going to throw her an adoption party---this will be the first party I've done that is more "kid" centered--even her birthday there were a few children, but I want this one to be more kid friendly.

If it's available once we finally have a date nailed down, we are going to rent a the "multi-purpose" room in the building where I work. It's actually a carpeted gym. We liked the idea b/c of the space (we are inviting so many people!) and location (it's 1/2 mi from our house so if we forget anything we can just run home) and the price is right.

So I thought I'd set up the tables on one side and games on the other....The children coming will be toddlers to teenagers (DD is 18mos) and this is what I had in mind to set up:

-a small ball pit

-an arts and crafts table

-Wii (for the older ones)

-Basketball (the gym as hoops on the side we can pull out)

Can you all think of anything else that may be fun. We are trying keep costs down so nothing too pricey.

Thanks!

Re: Kids' Activities

  • Congrats on the adoption.  How many kids are you expecting?  You have an awful lot of activities already. I'd almost pare it down to a ball pit and the Wii or basketball.  (Wii if there aren't many kids, basketball if there are).  Most kids can play with anything and don't need much organization.
  • I was also going to suggest a moonwalk/bounce house but if you have a ball pit there's not too much of a difference I guess - they still get to bounce around. :) I agree too, kids are so imaginative that they will probably think of games on their own so you should be good with the activities that you named. Congrats on the adoption and have a great time!!!

  • Maybe a train table or small table with trains/cars?  Something for the younger ones.
  • I love classic kid party games - pin the tail on the donkey, musical chairs, freeze dance, and pinata.
