What is a good engagement present?
We have an engagement party to attend coming up for SIL. What would be a good gift? Thinking back I have never been to an engagement party.

I prefer a bottle of champagne and that is what we usually take. I also liked the nice photo frames we got for our e-party (price hunt for these).
I would actually suggest toasting flutes. Well, if you are close to SIL anyway. While I wouldn't expect her to use them at the wedding, it's a nice gift and then they will have more than just the two from their wedding at their house. We received a few sets when we got engaged, and while we don't use them often, when we do it's nice to have a few sets, because we typically toast with other people, not just the two of us.
