Need a bit of advice

My sister was 6 weeks pregnant and unfortunately, had a miscarriage yesterday. She was here this past weekend and we talked so much about the pending baby and planned a load of things to do.

I have talked to her a lot since she found out but I still want to do a little more. Should I maybe send her some flowers or an edible arrangement? While I know there is no "good" gift to give for this difficult time, I just want her and BIL to know how we are thinking of them.

  • ooooh I would love an edible arrangement....but granted I'm not in that situation. I think if anything a nice card would suffice to let her know she is in your thoughts.

  • A card would be super sweet or just a text saying you love her, your sorry for her loss and you're here for her if she needs anything. Getting over a loss just takes time. It is a hard thing to cope with losing a baby you will never hold. Just be there for her when she needs to cry.

  • I think a card or flowers would be a good gesture but I also want to add that women often feel forgotten around the due date of the lost baby... Send her a card or something when the baby would have been due.

It sucks but the best thing you can do is just be there for her.  She will talk to you about it if she feels like it, just let her know you have a shoulder to cry on if she feels the need.... Even 2 or 3 months from now.

  • I totally agree with Bri, having been through one myself it was so comforting just to have someone to talk to. It took me a little while before I was ready to talk about it but just knowing that there were some people there for me to talk with and cry with meant more to me then those people will probably ever know!

I'm sorry that she is going through this, she will be in my thoughts!

  • Thanks so much ladies, it was extremely helpful. I don't understand the pain but just want her to know that I love her so much, this helped a bunch!
