School

I am considering going back to school next fall. I keep thinking about it and I can probably take vacation time when I do have to observe so many hours. I haven't talk to George yet, but if we can work it in the budget (it is $118 per hour plus fees and books), I might go back. I sorta wish I could find an online one, but I don't trust those schools, unless I know people who have actually went, graduated and got a job (seen too many reports on tv I guess). I know it is not for another year, but I am hoping that I can go back.

Re: School

  • That's awesome, Heather!

Which school are you looking into?  A lot of "regular" schools also have options for online classes, which you should check into.

  • I would be going to a local community college. They have RODP and I am going to check and see if I can take those classes and the college will recognize it. On the rodp website I don't see an AS in early childhood, so I need to check into it. It would be so much better and flexible if I could do online.

  • That sounds like a great idea! What are you looking at studying?

early childhood education (4 years old and under). I only have 3-4 regular classes and about 4-5 education classes left, so it probably won't take me too long to finish. I am thinking once I get a job they might pay for me to go further in my education

  • Yeah I agree with Carrie. Look into local schools. I'm sure some of the classes could be online. I am considering taking some classes online as well.

  • that's awesome heather! maybe look into other schools that have their programs totally online. wasn't steph's like that?  she 'went' to a school in arkansas, but did all her coursework online. i know a friend of mine from alabama went on to get another bachelor's or master's in teaching at an online school

so exciting! i wanna go back to school too :)

  • Thats awesome Heather!  I plan to go back to school once DH finds a job.  If he were able to find a job with a local college, family members of employees dont pay tuition.  Have you thought about checking out job openings at a local college, and find out if they also do tuition reimbursement (I think that's what its called)?

GL, and keep us updated on your decisions, I could learn a lot from you :)

mine was a "satellite school" on the base. i got to take half my classes online and then the other half i took in class with professors that the school brought in. it definitely was not $100/credit hour though, haha. that's a great deal i think you should definitely go for it heather!! i like in-class classes better than online because of the interaction with the other students and the teacher. though online has its benefits - sometimes it goes quicker & you can do it on your own time
