Anniversary Dinner Rec's

DH and I are pretty new to town, and we don't eat out much, so I could really use some recommendations for a restaurant to celebrate our 2nd wedding anniversary!  (Coming up in just over a week!!)

We're on the NW side of the city, kinda near Sea World.  I'm hoping for a nice but not too expensive place, maybe $15-$20/plate.  Any kind of fare is fine, but a good seafood or Italian place might be especially nice.  Oh, and it's GOTTA have yummy desserts.

THANKS!

Re: Anniversary Dinner Rec's

  • Hmmm.... I don't have any recs for that side of town. We always like Paesano's (there is a 1604 location.)?

Congrats on the pregnancy... I don't think I knew you were pregnant!?

  • We went to the 1604 Peasanos for my b-day last year and it was ok.  Lots of ppl love it though.  At 1604 and Blanco, there is a place called Aldinos that we liked much better..

  • Hi! We live near Sea World as well! :) Welcome to the area. The best restaurants (Italian) I would rec. would be in downtown really. For Italian, we love La Foccacia. http://www.lafocaccia-italian-grill.com/ We also like La Frite, very good food!  http://www.bistrovatel.com/lafrite.html That's not Italian, but it's great!
  • We really like Aldino's!!!

And mojokitty suggested my fav place- La Frite!! It's like a little European cafe... hard to believe you're in SA when you're there...

Okay, it is awful that I don't know where Sea World is??? Seriously.. and I grew up here and went hundreds of times... I just didn't drive and probably haven't been since I was in middle school. I know I could figure it out... but I don't think I have recs for that side of town, sorry... *hides in shame*?

  • You could go to Antlers - the restaurant at the Hyatt Hill Country Resort. It might be a bit over that specific price range, but I've heard really incredible things about it.

?Another option would be to go up to Grey Moss Inn. Its in Helotes.?

  • Thanks everyone!  (Both for the restaurant pics and for the pregnancy congrats.)  :O)

I'll check up on the places you all mentioned!

  • Oh, and Sea World is right off of 151, smack dab between the two loops.  (It's probably just about the only place in town I can give directions to!)  LOL

When you come to my house for Bunco night, you will be VERY close to Sea World! So then, you can say you've been near it at least! :)

  • We live in that area also and there aren't very many restaurants around here that aren't chains.  There is Cabo Tropical Grille at Bandera & Guilbeau that we have been very pleased with though.  They have a lot of seafood options.  They make some great margaritas on the rocks too!

  • There is a Tiago's over there off 151 and 410.  We really like that place.  There is also one in the Rim.  They have a variety of foods...it's a Mexican type grill...lots of seafood options and right in your price range.

And when you're not pregnant, you can go back and sample their beverages b/c those are really good too!  (but off limits for us right now! :o) )

  • We went to WILDFISH for our anniversary... SO WORTH IT!!!!!!!!!

  • I'm probably late but I'd also recommend our favourite - La Frite. It helps that it's a 5 minute walk from home, but I think we'd love it anyway.

I need to go soon for some mussels...yummmm!

However, it's near downtown, so not really near Sea World, but is a short hop on Hwy 90 (DH works not far from Sea World).
