Dog Dilemma

This is kind of a spin off of Kim's post from earlier about the cats.

So we already have a dog that we adopted from this rescue August 24th of last year. She is the most amazing, sweet, happy dog I could have asked for. Her story is the shelter workers found her on the side of the road in Puerto Rico, trying to scrape food off of it so she could eat and feed her 5 newborn puppies. She had been hit by a car and was in a lot of pain. They took her in, fixed her up and removed the femur head in her leg. She doesn't even act like it's a problem and is sooo fast! I saw her picture online for a local shelter, and fell in love.

So me being dumb, keeps looking at dogs and fell in love with another one this week. H is away for the week for work and won't be home until tonight, so he doesn't know anything about him...yet. We live in a two-bedroom apartment, and have already talked about getting another dog, but when we have a bigger place. The thing is, this guy is small, and Tiki is only 15lbs. So I don't think he'd take up a ton of room. Do you think this is something I should press H about, or do you think I should let this one go and wait until we get another, bigger place to get another dog? I'll post his link below...his story is very similar to Tiki's which is another reason I'm in love with him.

Re: Dog Dilemma

  • I would mention it to H his story is amazingly similar! H might be like oh we gotta get him! But if H isn't into the idea right now I would just let him go. But I hope he goes for it!

My friend brother died of cancer at 23 and their last name Sawyer. Also the brothers nickname. They found a dog whos name was sawyer and he was from the city her brother went to college but he was born in the city her brother worked for years (2 wayyy different cities not near each other) I think that was it, there may have been more, her dad was like we gotta get him! It was just perfect! I'm a huge believer in signs! They did and it was the best thing that ever happened to them!

    Hopefully H goes for it!

  • definitely send charlie's story to your hubby, even though he's away. its so similar and he's really cute. maybe he'll melt andrew's heart too and you can get him before you get a new place :)

  • If you think you will have enough space for both dogs and the two of you to be comfortable, I would discuss it with your husband. Think about factors such as twice the cost of vet bills, food, heartworm and flea/tick preventative, but also think of things that may come up without you knowing.. for example, with two dogs, you would have double the chance of one becoming ill, etc.

It wouldn't hurt to talk about it with him, especially since between the two of you, you can think of everything that needs to be taken care of and find solutions together. Hopefully it will work out and you can adopt him!

  • Thanks ladies! My guess is that Andrew will probably think it's not the best idea right now, but I have to try! :-) He knows how much I love animals and that we'd have a farm if I had my way, so we'll see. I just saw the similarities in their stories and they are even similar looking even though they're two different breeds. We'll definitely talk about the vet bills and food and how much it would cost us. I'll keep you posted about how it goes tonight! :-)
