Booking an all-inclusive vacation questions.

Hello everyone, I have been around latley but this is something I need Canadian help with. My friends and I (incl the Mr of course) have been discussing taking an all inclusive beach vacation for a few years now and we think this winter/spring might be the time, If you have booked one before:

1) Did you feel like you got a good deal and when do you think the best deals are?

2) Where did you go and would you recommend it?

3) Any tips/websites to check out about resorts, pricing, safety etc?

Re: Booking an all-inclusive vacation questions.

  • We always travel all-inclusive, and always 5 star. We have stayed at a few 3 and 4 star resorts before and there is a huge difference. I am not sure what kind of money you'd like to spend but we are big fans of any Riu resort. They are faaaaabulous. We've rarely had any issues with them and, when we did, they rectified the problem pronto.

We went away at Christmas once and got hosed on the price. Even my ILs time share was charging a top up for that time of the year so "free" wasn't really free, plus flights were super pricey. We usually travel in early May and get pretty reasonable rates.

Best location so far for a tropical locale? Aruba...hands down. It's such a small island that you can easily rent a car and go wherever you want. Crime is low, and nearly everyone speaks English. Great shopping, and great restaurants too. Loved it there!

We use a travel agent (becuase we usually travel in rather large groups), but a friend of mine uses Travelocity and Sell Off Vacations for her trips and has scored some pretty good deals.

  • Thank you very much and I will look into Aruba for sure, I'd never even thought about it until reading your reply!

  • I usually use selloffvacations.com. I have gotten some great deals on there. I have been to Cuba quite a few times and love it. It is fairly inexpensive and has some amazing resorts. This site is great to read reviews on resorts http://www.debbiescaribbeanresortreviews.com/

    have a great vacation!!!

We use these two websites too!

  • Ok,

The cheapest time of year is October-November and Late May to July (3-4 weeks prior will get you the best prices, but limited availability)

Read www.tripadvisor.com for every property you consider, and take everything you read there with a grain of salt, keeping in mind that typically only the people with the best and the worst experiences write reviews.

Personally, I would book through a travel agent/agency because you know they will back you up if you have any problems. Ie. lost reservation or not getting the right room, or service.

..I was a travel agent up untill May when my company closed their travel department.
