I'm Heeere!
The boy and I made the journey from Minnesota to here in two days and arrived early this morning! I've already started apartment hunting and found a place, but realized as soon as I started filling out the application that I may be screwed... I have no verifiable income since my income comes exclusively from my photography (which I don't have two years worth of tax forms for since I just started last year), blogging, and my Etsy shop. So... wish me luck that they even give me the apartment!
And this leads to another question... does anyone know of an apartment complex near GCC that will give you an apartment if you don't have a lot of verifiable income but are able to pay for a whole 6 month lease up front, I'd LOVE to hear about it! The one I went to today said they don't allow that- you have to verify you can afford the apartment so I'm hoping they'll accept my summer job and disability benefits as income.

I'm not sure about any complexes, but GCC isn't too far from me, so if I think of anything I'll let you know. I'm sure there will be somewhere that will accept an upfront lease though... when my Mum first left my Dad she didn't have a recent history of verifiable income in this country since we had only just moved down here. All she had was cash, and I believe they let her pay the full year up front - but that complex was in Scottsdale and it was 10 years ago
. Definitely must be doable some places though.

there are some apts. around gcc that I would def. stay away from though. Especially the ones with a locked gate that goes all around them.
As far as your verifiable income, when I put in apps for apts they didn't even bother checking. As long as you have a positive rental history you should be fine.

I hope you find something you like! I bet there will be places that will take the dough! I'd try to stay north of Peoria near gcc like pp mentioned...though there might be some decent places west of there...
