Critique my menu!

I am part of a group that plays Bunco once a month on a Friday evening.  We take turns hosting, and it entails making a dinner for everyone who comes.  Previous hosts have had meals such as lasanga, build your own tacos, sub sandwiches, and pasta alfredo/marinara (all with the fixings to make it a complete meal)

It's almost my turn to host, and I was thinking of having a breakfast theme.  The food would include:

Breakfast cassarole (eggs, hashbrowns, sausage, bacon, etc)

Vegetarian Frittatta

Baked french toast

Fresh fruit

Sweet rolls/cinnamon rolls

Mimosas (and assorted other drinks)

What do you think?  Good plan, or go with a more traditional eveing meal?  TIA!

Re: Critique my menu!

  • I like the idea!  I would tell your guests in advance so they know to expect it.  I'm one of those people who's cool with breakfast for dinner, I just have to be prepared for it, KWIM?

I think the cinnamon rolls and french toast are sorta similar (yeasty, cinnamony, sugary), so I'd probably trade the cinnamon rolls for blueberry muffins.

    This.

  • I love breakfast for dinner and we had a dinner party with breakfast recipes as well.  Just tell everyone as PP's said, I think it will be great!
  • I hate eggs, and actually don't eat french toast because I even think that is too eggy. So since the other 2 main things are egg...I would eliminate one of those. Honestly, I would just do hash brown and a meat, not all combined.

Another really good thing to have is just some bagels and cream cheese.

  • I'll be a voice of descent.  My husband hates breakfast for dinner.

If you do go this route I agree with pp that it is egg heavy and needs a starch.  Herb roast potatoes would be an easy addition.  Another easy add on would be sausage gravy and biscuits.  They can be done ahead and just keep the gravy hot.  Plus you can have nice jams to put on the biscuits for double duty.
