Hostess gift with Mpls or MN theme?
We're staying with friends in Michigan for a long weekend. I'd like to bring a little gift from Minnesota for them and their 4 year old daughter. I'm stumped! For the little girl I could just get her a cute outfit from Target or something I suppose, because I can't think of anything local. Her parents are fans of rival sports teams, so I'll stay away from Twins or Vikings shirts. I was thinking Wild Rice for her parents but that's lame. What should I bring? Thanks for any ideas!
Re: Hostess gift with Mpls or MN theme?
Maybe a bottle of wine from one of the local wineries or some baked goods from your fave local bakery.
What about a plush loon stuffed animal for the 4 year old?
For the little girl-

For parents- local wine, beer, chocolate are good and not stereotypical MN.
For the 4-year old: "V is for Viking, a Minnesota Alphabet"
For the adults - Summit beer, Minnesota wines (most stores carry St. Croix Vineyards, Northern Vineyards, and Cannon River Winery wines, some have more MN wine selections), Pearson's candy (salted nut rolls, nut goodies), wild rice, blueberry muffin mix (it's the state muffin).

I bet you'd find a TON in this store at the MOA:

ETA: I'd go with the edibles (at least for the adults)...some of the stuff can get a little tacky and end up stashed in a drawer. The wine suggestions are also great!
Good Night Minnesota is a great idea. I saw this at the farmers market a couple weekends ago and want to get them for my niece and nephews who live out of town. PP had some great ideas with wild rice and local wines. I agree, food is a good idea since most of the knick-knacky things will end up in a junk drawer. Happy travels!
