Me + Marriage Cert = Frenemies

Okay...I just don't understand what my marriage certificate has against me!?  I posted a while back about how I had lost it...but I did recover it out of our recycling bin.  I was convinced that I had put it there during a "cleaning frenzy".  But now, I think that it was throwing itself out!

I applied for my new passport and received it in the mail yesterday (which by the way only took them 3 weeks!).  But my passport was all lonely in the envelope.  My marriage certificate had opted not to make the trip back home!  

So I have now emailed the "passport people" and will see what they say...I just hope like hell that someone still has it on their desk or something.  But really...WTF???

There is one good thing...I had been sent 2 originals from Jamaica.  So I do have a backup at home - and after the recycling incident, I did unstaple them so they couldn't try to run off together again.

So I just thought that I would share my story...and I continue to to just shake my head in "bafflement".

I'm glad you found them!!  But sucks that the Passport people didn't send it back to you.  Good thing you have a back up one!!!

LOL! And don't worry about the passport people. My new passport came back by itself and like maybe a week later I got the old passport and the marriage certificate hanging out in another anvelope...I guess they didn't wanna party with the new passport and it's new passport smell and his "I'm newer and better-than-thou attitude".

Oh this is awesome to hear!  I don't know how many times I looked inside the envelope last night...it was like I thought it would magically appear!

Didn't they send you a little info sheet that said your MC and passport / passport card could all come separately?? It's like a FAQ pamphlet. I got my passport, MC & old passport, & passport card all back in separate envelopes and about a week apart. When I opened my passport card (which came first) and that's all that was in there I had a minor panic attack and then realized that this was just too BIG a screw up to not be intentional and not a screw up at all. LOL. They definitely should have sent you that pamphlet explaining what was going on, though! Shame on them if they didn't.

Lol. This for me too. I think they don't want to send all of your records together in case someone steals your mail. Just like when you got your original and your birth certificate was mailed separate.

There was a pamphlet in there...was I actually supposed to read that???

Really though...we were in a hurry last night because we were heading to a concert (a little Crosby, Stills, & Nash!  Freakin' awesome, by the way).  And I was just elated to get my passport so I can actually go to MX with DH!  I kept thinking "oh my...was I supposed to send a SASE with the docs?"  I figured I screwed it up.

This happened to me too. I just got my passport in the mail last week and my marriage cert and old passport were mailed seperately. I got them a few days later.
