Did you see this story - racism alive and well apparently

I am shocked.  I'd seen a Primetime What Would You Do with a similar idea but that was TV, you wouldn't think so close to home that attitude is alive and well, and some people even agree!  I feel so sheltered and naive to be shocked, it's just incredible to me that someone was in fact marketing their home in this manner and even if a minority there are others who think it is okay:

  • I am not shocked by this in the least. In my opinion, people tend to put the blinders on and be extremely naive about the level of dicsricimiation that goes on around them.

As for the ad, definitely in poor taste and sounds like it may actually violate the law. I, for one, (as a practical matter) wouldn't want to narrow the scope of potential buyers in this tough real estate market. The thing is, many people would be enticed into the area by the racist statements made by the buyer...which I almost find more unfortunate than the ad itself.

I don't believe in censorship so, unless the ad/wording violates the law, I don't believe that it should be altered or taken down.

Well said, I agree. I think many people are ignorant to their own biases. We live in a classist, racist, sexist, homophobic society.

  • I do find this shocking and sad. I'm not shocked that there are racist people out there, b/c unfortunately there are, but I think that if this ad _doesn't_ shock you, then that's a sad statement about our society today.

However, as unfortunate as the ad (and sellers attitude) is, I think s/he has the right to post it. :(

  • I am disgusted by this. I am not surprised by any means that such racism exists, just that it would be so prevalent and publicly expressed
