I saw that you were from up north, where exactly are you from? I moved down from Ohio in December.
It's very different but we are getting used to it. Oh, we also live near the Sea World area off of Potranco. Just wanted to say hello!
Re: **LandK**
Hiya! :O)
Back home, we were almost neighbors; I'm from Pennsylvania! We just got to S.A. in June, so we're still quite new here. Actually, I guess we're neighbors now, too, cause it sounds like you live very near where we do.
What brings you guys down here?
HI- my husband I just moved here in May from Pennsylvania right outside of Philadelphia. ?We have been here since May and have a 19 month old daughter. ?Just wanted to say hello and that we also live near Sea World in the Villages of Westcreek.
?
Yep, good old Uncle Sam summoned us here, too! Actually, this really was the best place for us to end up. DH is a medical resident over at WHMC, and the military residencies pay waaaay more than the civilian programs do. He likes his job so far, and I actually like SA much better than the last place we lived! We lived in Pittsburgh for a couple of years after we got married, and I thought it was a real dump. We're originally from west/central PA. DH also lived in Philly for a few years during med school. (Also a dump, IMHO.) LOL Central PA is gorgeous, though! You're right about it being tough to be so far from everyone back home. I really miss them all, especially now that we're going to be starting a family soon. By the way, what does your H do in the AF?
JeepGirl: Hey there, nice to meet you! It's pretty cool that there are a few mid-Atlantic transplants here! No offense about Philly, OK? ;o) Would I be correct to assume you guys are also military? Oh, and your daughter is really cute! (My #1 priority is just to have a healthy baby, but if I got to pick the sex, I'd totally go for a girl.)
Wow, ladies; we ought to have a GTG sometime. Maybe at Sea World! HAHA Seriously, we could practically all walk to each other's houses, from the sound of it. Once again, nice to meet you girls.
Landk and Jeepgirl, I'm having Bunco (with a lot of other people from this board) on Wednesday night at 7:00. You guys are more than welcome to come over if you would like. Let me know if you would like more info?
Getting together sometime for lunch or coffee would be fun too! I don't work..well, I have a 4 yr old son, so he's as much work as I want right now. So, my schedule is pretty open. Hey, want to exchange e-mails? Let me know!
::butting in::
All my fam is from Ohio. My Mom and her family is in Cleveland (Berea/Strongsville) and my Dad is in Cincy (Lebanon). I went to Miami (in Oxford). I also am a die hard Steeler fan. Go figure.... I went to school w/ Ben!
Hi- my email is ajmitch75@gmail.com. ?I have never played bunco and I don't even know what it is- I think a card game??? ?I am not working just yet, but was offered a position at a local hospital so I am looking to start at the end of the month (yuck!!) ?I was getting use to staying home. ?I could get together one day this week if you guys want to. Let me know! ?
?
?
I don't think I can do Bunco this week. Maybe some other time! But a lunch GTG or something would be great. My email is lindsayk19 at yahoo dot com. I don't check that mailbox too often, though, so let me know if you all send me something!
Actually, as far as Philly goes, it wasn't too bad. DH lived in one of the suburbs, and I liked it there. However, the campus of his med school was just plain ghetto! One of the few times I drove down there with him, we literally saw dudes passed out on the sidewalks, and one time when he was walking to class, he saw a car that had just been torched and was still burning! *shudders* Not a nice place. However, the 'burbs really are pretty nice. I just didn't like that we were doing the LDR thing at the time and that it took me something like four hours each way to go visit him. That alone was enough to sour my opinion of the city!
MrsGladney: Hello to you, as well! I must admit, I'm not much of a Steelers fan. (Nothing against them, I'm just not a football fan, period.) You went to school with Big Ben, huh? That's cool. Too bad you never managed to pilfer a pair of his sweaty gym shorts or something. If you had, with ebay, you could be one rich lady now! LOL Actually, I have a funy story about him. I was working in a hospital outside of PGH when he had his motorcycle accident a few years ago. I came across some ladies that I worked with standing in the hall and looking really grief stricken. I heard one lady say something to the effect of, "This is awful! He was going to marry my daughter!" Not knowing about the accident, I assumed something terrible had happened to this woman's daughter's real life FI. Needless to say, I thought their reaction was *a little* over the top when they told me they were talking about the Steeler's quarterback!
Thanks!
I've sent both of you mail, as well.
