I spoke with bff about our Godfather dilemna to see what she recommended. Her father is an Episcopalian priest and she is training to be one, so I brought up the idea of asking my dad to be Lucie's grandfather and it was an immediate no no. She believes that's a relationship that's already established and that it's a little odd. I talked with her about it and we both came up with the idea of asking her brother to be Godfather.
He's active in my parent's church where I want to start going back to regularly, we don't know him SUPER well, but both us and my parents are very close with his family and I do know him well. She said that oftentimes, parishoners will ask a male in the congregation to be the Godfather, even if they don't really know them, if they plan to be active in that church. Considering we already know him, I don't think it's too weird to ask him. He's a really nice guy and I think he's the perfect choice. I do plan to get to know him a little better, of course, esp before asking him, but I feel a bit happier now!
