Cleaning antique velvet?

I have an 1880s velvet couch, so of course my cat threw up on it. I'm not terribly concerned about the couch, as it was free and it's not in collector condition to begin with. But I would love to get this vomit spot out so I can continue to enjoy it. Most of the advice I've found online for cleaning velvet is for clothing and probably a lot more color-fast than this couch.
