Medical Office Assistant/Medical Administrative Assistant

Anybody in the Twin Cities work as one? I am looking for schools that offer these programs and wanted to see what everyone else has done! Thanks in advance!

Re: Medical Office Assistant/Medical Administrative Assistant

  • When I worked for HealthPartners I started as a Medical Office assistant and I didn't need any schooling for it...its basically a glorified secretary.  You'll learn the medical terms as you go.
  • I know both Hennepin Tech and Rasmussen offer courses and different types of programs for this (some are occupational certificates and some actual degree programs depending on how far you want to take it). I looked into these two before I decided to go for more of the nursing side of administrative things.

Evan James was born 1/24/13 and matched with us 2/20/13. The LOVE OF MY LIFE!!!
  • I worked at a TC hospital for 5 years as the Admin Assistant one of the Directors and did not need any specific schooling.  They were looking for more Admin Asst experience than education, things may have changed.  I now support a VP (not medical) and experience was what got me in the door.
