  • Well, while I was running yesterday I did something to my upper back/neck. I have had the worst headache every since. It's getting worse, too. So, this morning I went to get an adjustment at the chiropractor. I'm feeling a little better, but it's still not very fun. Anyway, he said that running is really not great for you. I now have to decide if I'm going to continue running or not. I'm leaning toward no because I don't want to make my neck worse. Aldo, it isn't good for my back. I think I'm just going to stick with walking and work out videos.

    Today my main goal is to just rest, take care of my boys the best I can and not throw up from the pain. Joys...

  • DS took a 30 minute walk today.  Loving this weather!

    Mrs.  If you decide you want to keep running you should look into visiting Playmakers in Okemos.  Most people run incorrectly and they will evaluate your run and show you what you are doing wrong.  They will have you run on a treadmill and video it then play it back for you in slow motion.  They are very very helpful!!

    DH keeps telling me that I need to go there. The problem, I think, is that I have to push the jogging stroller. I hate running anyway, I was just running to lose some weight. I think I'm just going to do workout videos or something and walk a lot. Eh, we'll see what I end up doing. For now, I'm just resting my neck as much as possible.

  • Mrs--I hope your neck feels better soon!  That sucks that you are just trying to do something to better yourself and you ended up getting hurt in the process.

    I went for another 20 minute walk/run tonight in our neighborhood.  I'm finding that just getting a little time alone is enough motivation to keep me going!  I wasn't able to run as much tonight because my knee hurts a bit today.  I got a knee brace tonight so hopefully that will help.

    I was also talking to my chiropractor about running in general and he doesn't recommend it. He says that walking is MUCH better for your bones. I have to research this more, but he said that walking burns more fat calories. I'm not sure on that though. Either way, I hate running so I think I'm just going to stick with "power" walking, workout DVD's, and maybe try to get a gym membership or get in a class. Running it not worth getting any more injuries.
