Glad to know I don't have the only workaholic! I swear, he's home for 2.5 days at best usually, and he logs on at least 10 times a day to make sure he isn't missing anything. ARGH!
What does your DH do? Mine's a transition/project manager for a consulting company.
Re: Lauren
Amen! And I just saw in the other post that your DH travels too. It's so weird to almost have two different lives but still be married, and something that none of my friends understand. They all have the normal 9-5, come home and have dinner together arrangements, so I'm the oddball out on most weeknights. I was working remote until a couple weeks ago when I got laid off, so now it's even more depressing since I have nothing to do all day either!
Luckily the ILs had a similar situation so I've seen it work (and very happily). It can be done. With a lot of patience. : )
Well, to make out situations even more coincidental...
I had to quit my job when we moved out here last month, and haven't been able to find anything as of yet. So, I've been "sitting at home" doing "home things", and spending more time talking to the dog than other people! lol
Growing up, my dad was in the same type of business as my DH, and so we didn't see him probably more than a week out of every month because he was on the road traveling so much! My mother to this day says it's the only reason they've stayed married for over 35 years! lol So that being said, I was kind of "used" to it, it never phased me that he traveled so much. Whereas my friends couldn't understand how we could function that way! You just make it work
That's exactly it - you make it work, one way or another. He's still the best man I've ever known, so even if we only see each other 2 days a week it's still well worth it.
That is so weird! Well shoot, anytime you want to do a daytime mini-GTG in the city just let me know haha. The job hunt is miserable right now, and it's really only going to get worse, at least through the 4th quarter if not beyond! Everyone I know with a job is just holding on and praying right now. What kind of work are you looking for? I decided to take the opportunity to make a switch from recruiting to PR and am really just starting to get out there a little bit. We moved back from Charlotte in December and I was working remotely until a couple weeks ago.
Well, I'd like to think that my job situation isn't as dependant on the market, but as of lately, I'm losing faith! I'm in social services, primarily in the non-profit healthcare field. I left my job as a senior director at the American Cancer Society last month after almost five years, and I cringe to think that I had to give up a well paying job in this type of market :oP But, keeping my fingers crossed, and like you, also exploring some new options.
I'd love to do a mini get together! I've only been into the city once (took the Metra from here in Elmhurst to Oglevie? station), and just did some of the touresty things. I'd love to see more of Chicago though!
Sorry I disappeare for a bit. DH called from NJ and we finally got to catch up.
Ok, so to be more ridiculous, healthcare and non-profits are my little pets. My internship was an NFP and I worked in healthcare through school. Next week is a bust since the ILs are coming into town, but what about the week following? Ogilvie isn't that far from my favorite wine bar (Bin 36) haha and even better they do offer lunch if you're up for it!
