Just need to vent

ugh I'm so frustrated!! I can't talk to DH about it because he just gets upset about it *sigh*  DH was under the impression that he would be getting his stipend the beginning of september, his grad school tuition would be waived, and he would have health insurance through the school when we got here. Well we found out today that he won't get his first grad school stipend until October 1st...we have rent..electric..water/gas..internet..phones..like everything due the beginning of september.  We also found out in addition to that the 'waived tuition' only meant that he got instate tuition when he was an out of state student..not he didn't have to pay tuition

So now in addition to having no money to pay the bills we also owe the school like 2500 by October. We went today to figure out  the health insurance thing and he was mislead about that too, its not provided through the school and its an extra whatever amount..i don't even remember how much but it was expensive. I have been sick for 3 and a half weeks now..started out as what we thought was strep and now has become this horrible cough where i can't stop coughing once i start and keep coughing up all this crap. Its really frustrating..I'm tired of being sick! So now I don't know what we're going to do about that.

So given all that, I'm really frustrated. We both are really frustrated. I just had a check come from work and instead of spending it on food which we are running low on DH things we need to get fish for our fish tank his sister gave us. We've had it running with water in it for a while but he decided he didn't want to wait to get the fish now because we have a friend coming to visit for labor day and he wanted it set up when they came..so we have fish..but we won't have that much money for food now.

I'm just soo frustrated and so upset about everything. His parents are loaning us money to pay  for this month's bills which I feel horrible about because they are financially stressed too. My dad keeps calling to see how we are doing on money and has told me that if he can help us and has the money too that he wants me to let him know because he wants to help, which I greatly appreciate but I feel awful accepting that from him. We are married, we aren't supposed to be getting money from our parents.

Another thing that I'm really frustrated about is DH I feel like he should have looked into this before we ever got down here. He just assumed that his stipend would start September 1st. He never emailed of asked anyone to get a final answer about it He never looked all the way into the health insurance, and he just assumed that tuition waiver meant no money. I would have assumed that too but I also would have made sure that I understood everything before coming here. I feel like its both the school and DH that are at fault here its not just one person but why wouldn't you follow up and make sure you had the answers to all of that..I just don't get it. I just get so frustrated!!

*sigh* If you've made it this far here's an alcoholic drink of your choice for listening. God knows I need one! lol

Re: Just need to vent

  • Ill take a Malibu & Pineapple juice pleaseeeeee? ahahahaha

Just take a DEEP BREATH..... & relax! Holy *** that is a hugeeeeeeee load of stress!!! it definitely sucks that all this is happening right after your wedding & I totally feel like your H should have checked all this out before you guys up & moved. I am sooooo sorry this is happening. As far as you being sick... it sounds like bronchitis, you should get to the drs to get started on some steroids & antibiotics. I just went through that earlier this summer & it suckeddddddddd!

Just try to remain calm girlie & just go with the flow & take it easy & step by step. It will all work out!!

  • thats what my mom said that it sounded from my cough like it was bronchitis too. And I agree..after 3 weeks I'd love to go to the dr and get this fixed...but we have no money..no health insurance..no nothing :/ so for now I can't do anything about it
  • If u can... atleast go to the corner drug store like CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid & get some Mucinex... that will help break that crap up!

  • We do have Mucinex which has helped some and then I take Nyquil to help me sleep so I don't wake up in the middle of the night from coughing. Its just frustrating because those have only just subsided it. It isn't actually making it any better in the long run ya know
  • ughhh yeah I know exactly what you mean. Im kinda in a similar spot but mine is allergies this time, they are KILLING.ME.

  • I can't figure out what its from really..I got sick a week after we got back from Costa Rica, but we also did just move to Texas so idk waht its from or if its just my body being weak from all the stress from the wedding...I just can't believe 3 and a half weeks later im still sick :(
  • i dont have any advice, but im really sorry youre going though all of this. i hope you guys figure it out soon.

  • I would suggest calling your doctor and seeing if they have any sort of payment plan for people with no insurance.  Also, some doctors will give out sample prescriptions to patients who can't afford paying for their drugs themselves.  It really doesn't hurt to inquire about this.

As for getting money from your and DH's parents: I understand that it is hard to except help like that but I really think that that is what families should do for each other.  Let them help you out right now.  You really need the help.  And try not to feel bad about it!
