I've never been to a baby shower but I am helping throw one for my cousin so I would LOVE suggestions on what to do. The only one I have is the dirty diaper/candy bar game. What other games would you suggest?
My cousin is having a baby girl (80% chance its a girl anyway) if that is relevant.

Re: Baby shower games
Are there any pop culture fans attending? Or really, anyone attending who reads People magazine? When my aunt had her first baby (I was in high school), we did "Match the Celebrity to their Weird Baby Name" game (Pax with Brad & Angelina, Kal-el with Nicholas Cage, Suri with Tom & Katie, Pilot Inspektor with Jason Lee, Denim with Toni Braxton, Moxie Crimefighter with Penn Gillette, Harley Quinn with Kevin Smith, etc...). It was a lot of fun. What was even MORE fun was researching the list and having everyone yell at me because they thought there were "fake answers" -- nope, all real celebrity/baby pairs.
Another easy one which you can incorporate into the decor is a "Guess How Many" game -- how many candies fill this vase of flowers, how many diapers are in this diaper cake, etc.
Okay, I just got back from a baby shower -- here are two more games.
(1) Notes to Mom & Baby. Okay, this isn't really a game, but I thought it was cute. Everyone gets a notecard and an envelope. Then, they draw an age for the baby, from one month to twelve months. They write a note to mom and baby (and dad, too) and seal it in the envelope. On the envelope, you write the age month. Each month, the mom will open the notes for her and baby.
(2) Memory game. Make a giant memory game board. Go around the circle and have each person select two numbers. Reveal what's underneath. If it matches, remove the cards and give a prize that matches what was listed. Here's some examples of what was on the board and the prize won for matching:
Poopy Diaper = Milk Duds; Father of the Baby = Red Hots; Conception = Skor; Triplets = 3 Musketeers; Breastfeeding = Milky Way
You can come up with lots of different ones. The more spaces on the board, the more options you can have and prizes you can give out. It was an easy game, didn't cost much, and everyone loved seeing what the candy they won was and how it associated to the words they uncovered.
The card/envelope thing is such a great idea! I'm totally stealing that for my SIL's shower!
I do like a paper & pen game that is a "baby term" and they have to guess what candy bar it is describing. You can find this by googling.
I also like this one:
GUM Baby ~ Give all guest a stick of chewing gum and have them chew the gum and then make a baby the best way they can using the chewed up gum. Whoever makes the best looking baby wins! Mom & Dad can pick.
I've been to countless baby showers and played tons of different games. Here are some examples:
1) Toilet Paper Game - pass around a roll of toilet paper and have each guest take as many sheets as they think it will take to fit around the expectant mother's belly. The best fit gets a prize.
2) Memory Game - purchase a variety of baby items such as a pacifier, bottle, bottle brush, onesie, rattle, teether, etc. and tie them to a clothesline-type rope/garland. Hang the clothesline in the room of the party, then right before the game, take it down and place it out of sight. Have each guest write down as many items as they remember seeing on the clothesline. Whoever gets the most correct wins and all the items on the clothesline can be given to the mom-to-be.
3) Baby Relay - depending on the size of the shower, have 3-5 baby dolls each with a diaper, onsie, and bib. Place the babies (undressed) on a table. Divide guests into equal teams. At the start of the relay the first person from each team runs to the table, diapers and dresses the baby and carries it to the next person on their team. That person takes the baby back to the table and undresses the baby and takes the baby to the next person on their team. Repeat until the last person on the team has had a turn. First team to finish wins.
4) Baby Bingo - card sets can be purchased at party supply stores.
5) Clothespin Game 1 - each guest is given a clothespin to pin on their lapel when they get to the shower. A previously determined rule is made known. (i.e. no crossing your legs, no saying "baby", etc.) If you catch someone violating the rule, you take their clothespin and pin it to yourself. The guest witht the most clothespins at the end of the shower wins.
6) Clothespin Game 2 - take a wire hanger and pin as many clothespins on it as will fit. The leader of the game holds the hanger while each guest has a turn using one hand to remove and hold as many clothespins as they can. Their turn is over when they drop a clothespin or cannot remove another. Whoever removes/holds the most clothespins wins.
I had a friend whose mom did something like this for her second child. They held a shower for just close friends and family (since they were having another girl, and had almost everything), and asked each person/couple at the shower to write the baby a letter before they came. They asked specifically for them to write their hopes and dreams for the baby and any special blessing they may want to give her before she was born. Needless to say, there wasn't a dry eye in the room! Especially when their older daughter, Katie (who was 6), read the letter that she had written to her little sister!
