fall window boxes

Hi all - my first post on this board, hope you can help.  Just put my mumms in my 4 large pots but have two window boxes i would like to put something in, mumms wont do, i was thinking purple flowering cabbage - any thing else that would be good in a window box for the fall in new england?

Last year I put spanish moss (got it from a craft store) and put different sized mini pumpkins and gourds on it.  It looked cute and lasted through Thanksgiving and best was that I didn't have to water it.

I put pansies. They last until frost and come back in the spring.

Mums and cabbage work well with ivy for something trailing, liriope for some height, and pansies for color.

I just planted Mums in my window boxes... but I think I'm going to add some Kale as soon as it comes available... I had to redo mine this weekend because I forgot to water my petunias because even though we ot 8" of rain.... my boxes stayed dry

I was also going to suggest pansies.
