Growing in a sandy texture?
Hello Ladies! I've got a quick question for all you who actually have tha ablility to grow
, I'm lacking in my gardening skills! I'm wanting to work on the front portion of my house planting small flowering bushes and some hostas. The area i'm wanting to work on for some reason has a sandy base to it. . Would it be better to replace the sand w/ a top soil? or could I just mix in a couple bags of top soil? There is dirt somewhere under the sand I'm just not sure how far?
Re: Growing in a sandy texture?
Sandy soil is agreeable to a lot of plants- specifically, desert and mediterranean ones.
You can plant it as is, or add composted humus as kastle said and be done with it, and you can also add topsoil and peatmoss. It depends. Maybe you should get a soil test done, so you know for sure what action is needed.
