30th Birthday Party Ideas

I have to admit I've never been on this board, but figured you guys would have good input on this topic.

MH turns 30 in Feb. Yes, I realized that's 5 months away. But once the holidays hit, I won't have much time to plan and I want to start thinking about what I'm going to do now. Plus I'm bored at work...

What has everyone done for their 30th or other 30th bday parties they've been to? He'll be the first of our group of friends and I want to do something bigger, but not too expensive... Unfortunately, our place is only big enough to host about 8 people so I can't do that...

I loved a 30th birthday I went to which was 80's themed, since the birthday girl was born in the 80's... everything from the music, to the candy & food... and everyone was dressed 80's style.. really cute & we had a blast.

For DH's 30th we rented Sumo suits and had a taco cart.
Awesome.
Renting food carts/trucks are very popular right now.
You could rent a luxury box at a sporting event.
Have a Dirty 30 Mustache bash like Jim and Jaime. (I can't find the link...hopefully she will chime in)
Someone posted about a beer tasting 30th bday party awhile back.

I just rented out a local pub for my DH"s birthday. We had 3 hours of private time before they opened the bar to the public. I bought the first round for everyone and then they were all on their own. We have a friend who is a DJ and he brought his equipment and he played music for us. It was a fun, casual evening for all.

My husband's 30th birthday is also in February.  We are huge hockey fans, and so this is what I am doing for his party.  His friends all said they want to all pitch in as well to help pay for it, since they are going as well.
