Would you buy a refurbished laptop?

I'm in the market for a laptop...nothing fancy, just enough to meet my needs for internet (including watching videos from Netflix) and the basic stuff like Word, Adobe, etc.

I think I'll wait until Black Friday to see if there are any great deals on new ones but if that doesn't pan out, I see some great prices on refurbished models.  But I'm leery of those being okay.

Opinions? Advice? Thanks.

I can only post regarding refurb mac's. I've bought several refurb items including laptops off of apple website. I can find no difference between a new and a refurb. It still comes with a full warranty and I can still add apple care if I want. I would say I save about 20% on average buying that way. HTH

Same here; we have a refurbished powerbook pro and it has run beautifully for years.

Another yes vote for refurbs.

I've had several and the company I work for always buys refurbs.

I got my Dell refurb. I got 2x the pc for half of what I would have paid for it if it wasn't a refurb.

Ditto.  Bought a refurb'ed MacBook and it runs great.

We have bought things refurb before and never have had any problems with them. My iphone is a refurb. It was free from AT&T, someone had returned it and I love it, no problems at all!
