Right or Wrong? Opinions?

I was at Target today an accidently picked up another person's bag with my items.  I saw the girl behind me in line and realized this was her only item...I even heard her say, "That's it!" to the guy at the check out.  I got in my car and back to work before I realized I had picked up her only ADORABLE top that was my size!  Because that was her only purchase, they couldn't catch me on the way out,  I'm sure they let her pick up another one.  Should I take it back, or keep it?  AngelDevil

Re: Right or Wrong? Opinions?

  • omg, that is such a hard one! i gotta sit and think about that for a while - lol.
  • My bestie and I pondered over it....it wouldn't be hard if it weren't cute and my size!  She told me to consider it fate and a leave it at that.  Who knew fate and shirts went together!
  • LOL....what a perfect use for the angel and devil icons!

I don't know man...that is tough...I mean, I see your logic in that since that was her only purchase, they probably let her come back in and pick up another one....BUT...what if she is somewhere having thoughts about going back and asking for another top, but she is too worried about looking like she is trying to shoplift or scheme them or something? I mean...I don't know.

I think ultimately, my conscious would get the best of me, and I would take it back....just because if the situation were reversed, I don't know that I would feel "right" going back in to ask for another top...even if I knew for sure I didn't walk out with my top....does that make any sense?

  • Umm....take it back.

And I don't think this should even be a question!

  • I'd take it back since I didn't pay for it.

  • Thank you all....I needed steering, because the broke girl who desperately NEEDS (not to be mistaken for wants) new clothes was tempted.  Hard!

  • I would go with the angel on my shoulder for this one. Even if she was given another one, at least target would be able to break even at the end of the day.

Retail places, especially big ones like target have something called loss prevention, and a "shrink" percentage that they're given each year... The higher the percentage, the more people within the company and shoppers have stolen... It sort of gives them a score on how well they're doing, and people get hired or (usually) fired depending on how it goes. It would count against their shrink score if you didn't bring it back... I mean, it's only a shirt, but still- it could be the straw that breaks the camels back with someone's job :)

    just my perspective! =D

  • I would take it back too.
  • Totally taking it back.  Ya'll I am never tempted this hard at all!

To make things even more right....I had my wedding band polished today and they called to say it was ready.  Mhhmmm....God played in my books right today.  The band was missing a diamond and they replaced it for free.  Ummm, so yeah, top going back.

  • I would take it back, it would bother me a lot to keep something that someone else had paid for. If I was the other lady I would feel very uncomfortable to go back and tell them I didn't get my purchase...so I probably would just lose the top and the money. It isn't worth it, karma is a devilish little thing and in some way, some how, it will come back and bite us when we don't do the right thing.
