What do you plant for your fall crop?
We live in Southern California and have a great extended growing season but this is my first time planting a fall crop.
I planted cauliflower, beets, okra, eggplant and snow peas today.
What do you plant for fall?
Re: What do you plant for your fall crop?
two kinds of cabbage, broccoli, lettuce, collards, brussel sprouts
I want to plant some carrots and will plant garlic later.
You can plant okra in the fall where you are? Hmph. That's interesting. I have okra growing now (zone 7b), and it's slowed down since it's not as hot. I'd love to hear how yours does!
This fall we're planting carrots, broccoli, turinps, spinach and romaine lettuce. Now winter squash, my family doesn't seem to care for it.
I'm in NorCal on the bay. Okra doesn't produce here even in the summer. I'd also be curious to hear if you can do it in the reduced sun hours of fall/winter.
My fall crops will be mixed leaf lettuces, spinach and garlic (which won't be ready until next summer). Maybe some peas if we have time. I probably won't plant for a few more weeks, since I'm still getting corn, tomatoes, beans and squash out of my little food patch, and I don't have enough room for both the summer veggies and the fall veggies at the same time.
