the bad thing about spouses working in sports
No fantasy football, no NCAA pools, no game of squares during the SuperBowl... not even putting in $5 for a raffle that depends on the outcome of a game.
I miss doing those things.
I swim because I'm too damned sexy for a sport that requires real clothing.
Re: the bad thing about spouses working in sports
I thought you were going to say the ridiculously horrible hours and the constant travel
But that really does suck. I'd love to play fantasy football again.
My DH is a coach at an SEC school and all of that fun stuff has been taken away...
TI, IUIs, IVF = c/ps and BFNs
My H is the Compliance Director at another D-I school so I know why all that fun stuff has been taken away! I don't do it for fear of even looking improper.
H doesn't travel so much. But he gets all sorts of calls at all hours of the night when coaches go to Europe to recruit and forget about the 6-7 hour time difference and want to know about x, y, and z rules of recruiting! The worst part is that he actually gets up at 3:00 in the morning to TAKE THE CALL. Seriously? It's not life or death and he isn't a doctor. Go back to sleep.
Aw I'm so sorry girls! That does suck, I didn't really think about that.
The hours suck though. I'm the one in sports, not my H. I only do local stuff right now, so it's OK for me to play in the fantasy football leagues and stuff, but I would never do anything that would affect my work.
At my old job I worked 3 p.m. to midnight about 5 days a week for my sports job, I had a second job I worked at about 3 mornings a week, and I went to school. So I never saw H at night because of sports. It was brutal so I know how some of you must feel when your H is off doing sports. Lame.
That does stink that you can't do any of that stuff anymore =( I am a coach at a local high school and it takes up so much time I can't even imagine being at a d-1 school
Good for you ladies keep it up!!
Technically speaking I could but I don't want to be caught in a situation where I'm talking about a pool or fantasy league - even if there is no money - and having it misconstrued, no matter how innocent it is. It's a thing were perception is reality and it just wouldn't look good.
I agree, I used to love playing the fantasy games
Well obviously the money is the main factor...but the school my DH is at makes all coaches and wives sign contracts saying they will not participate in any form of betting (or obviously gambling) on any professional or college athletics, with or without money/prizes.
TI, IUIs, IVF = c/ps and BFNs
