Baking Soda Acne Treatment?

I have heard that baking soda can be used as a natural acne treatment.  Has anyone tried this?  How do you use it?  As a scrub?  As a mask?  Do you mix it with anything (other than water)?  I have read some tips online - but I would like to know if anyone has actually tried it and what the results were.

Re: Baking Soda Acne Treatment?

  • I use it, as a scrub. It's really good at getting rid of blackheads.

  • I tried this after I saw this post last night - and did some googling and it is already helping out some of my acne. I basically made a paste with baking soda and water and softly rubbed it into my skin with my fingers, left it on for one minute and rinsed with cold water. After I dried off my face, I dabbed it with some Apple Cidar Vinegar and my face was so soft! No new pimples today either.

I'm going to start implementing this after my runs, that's when most of my forehead acne seems to develop.

  • If you are experiencing acne, don't scrub your face. It will make it worse.
  • I'll have to try this!  I noticed a huge decrease in acne, particularly on my back and at my hairline, after I started washing my hair with baking soda and vinegar.  I'd thought that it was the vinegar and the absence of conditioner...

I have to disagree with that. . . everyone has acne for a different reason.  Some people with sensitive skin will breakout because of abrasive treatments or harsh scrubs, while some oily and thick skinned folks will break out if they don't scrub every other day or so.

I personally will give this a try!
