Christening Centerpiece ideas?

I need about 8 centerpieces for my son's christening in October. I was wondering if anyone had any cute ideas. I have a cricut, but I don't want something too complicated because I am also working on the halloween costumes for both boys.

What about small vases of flowers (or just baby's breath) and on the glass vase do an etching of a cross or another religious symbol?
My MIL just did the small vases full of baby's breath for a baby shower and it looked beautiful!
