Laptop help

Hello..I was wondering if you girls could recommend a laptop for me. My mom had a Dell and it just died yesterday and she needs a new one. She was going to buy another Dell but I've heard that their laptops just aren't as good as their desktops. She only needs the computer to go online and put video's of her grandkid on there.

I think a netbook would probably be good for her but I really don't know anything about them. I have a Macbook, which I love, but she doesn't want to spend more than 600.

I appreciate any advise!! thanks.

Re: Laptop help

  • We bought my mother-in-law an Acer from Wal-Mart, and it's actually a good little computer for what she uses it for- which is mainly surfing the net.  My parents just bought one for the same reason and they love it.  I wouldn't get a dell just for surfing the net, but that's just my opinion.

  • I highly recommend Asus. They offer a 2 year worldwide warranty (without extra charge unlike most companies) and are know for having the best motherboards. Coming in close seconds I would recommend Acer and Sony.

And for help finding a specific model to fit your mother's needs go to Cnet.com and try their laptop search engine.
