I'm hoping someone can give me some insight here...
Right now we have carpet throughout our house, but Ted and I want to put down hardwood (or the nice looking laminate hardwood). The problem is that our house is 3 levels - bottom is the garage/laundry area, second floor is the living room/kitchen, top are the bedrooms and full bathroom. So our top two floors are on wood subfloors and our subfloors aren't completely level - in fact in some areas it's super unlevel, but the carpet guys cut & contoured some carpet pad to make it feel level.
Does anyone know how you can go about prepping a wood subfloor so we can properly put down some kind of hardwood? I'm thinking we can use self-leveling concrete, but I'm not sure if that stuff is meant for such large areas. It's really just the living room area that is pretty low in some spots, upstairs is actually quite level.
Thanks to anyone who can assist or head me in the right direction!
Re: question about hardwood floors
Hmm. I would as someone in the flooring deparment at HD or Lowe's or even a regular floor store. I know that when you put down laminate or HW you put down stuff underneath. Sorry for the untechnical term, I forget what they call it. But it's a padding and leak barried type thing. So that may help even out the floors a bit.
