Stupid things people say....

the post below kinda got me thinking about how lots of people have foot in mouth syndrome.

What is something that has been said to you that really stood out and you were like WTF?

I've had several but the one that sticks out to me most is that my college roomate had a major case of foot in mouth syndrome one day and told me..

"Candi the reason why you are perpetually a guys friend and not their girlfriend is because you just aren't the real girlfriend type....let's face it I'll get married before you ever will."

Um yeah that friend is still single and I have been married 2 years.  I'm not sure what she meant by the "real girlfriend type" but whatever.

Re: Stupid things people say....

  • I was shopping one day when I was pregnant and this girl who worked in the store looked at me and asked how far along I was.  I told her and she was like, "Wow!  I wasn't THAT big until I was (so-and-so) weeks along."  Um, okay, great, thanks!  Now I feel like a freakin' cow.  Why would someone say that?

  • I've been told I look pregnant quite a few times because I'm sort of thin all over, but I carry a good deal of weight in my tummy, boobs, and behind. Because of that, I usually wear fit and flare or blousey tops. It's gotten better since I've lost wedding-stress weight, but it still happens :( it always really hurts my feelings. Now I just try to laugh it off and rub my tummy and say "no, it's not baby... it's just cheeseburger"
  • See the middle aged post for mine.  I've gained a some boobies and thighs but I AM NOT PREGNANT.  Seriously.  AF is in town.
  • I can vividly recall two times someone opened their mouths when they should have kept them shut.

Right after I had David I dropped all my baby fat but I guess I got smug and didn't really watch what I ate so about five months later I probably did look pregnant. I was wearing one of my loose fitting tops and I was in the baby section of some store looking at baby stuff when some lady asked me when the baby was due...DIET and workout began immediately. Talk about motivation!!

The other time I was upset for someone else. A friend I worked with and I are close to the same age. She's about 8 months older than I am. We both went together to the wedding of another friend and at the reception some idiot asked me in front of her, if she was my mother...she was right there and heard it and I wanted to disappear somewhere, anywhere.

People sometimes should just shut TH up.

  • Before they diagnosed my thyroid disorder....I gained over 50 pounds in just a few months.  As if I was not feeling bad enough......all the countless people that kept (and keep) asking me if I was preggers really hurt my feelings so bad!  Even if I was just "with child".....it is none of anyones business.....period!  Why do people feel like they have the right to just ask random strangers such personal questions??
