Baby Update

Just wanted to give a quick update on our little one since he'll be here soon!

I had a preterm labor scare at 32 weeks and have been on bedrest but luckily have managed to keep him cookin!

He has been breech for as long as they've been checking so they have scheduled me for a C-section on Tuesday.

I am very excited but also very nervous about the surgery because I have never had major surgery. I also really thought I would get the chance to try it natural. The most important thing is that he arrives the safest way possible!

So we will get to meet our little boy in 5 days!

I'll try to post after he arrives and would love to hear how the other pregnant CF nesties are doing too!

Re: Baby Update

  • Aww, I hope he miraculously turns for you! My friend's babies were both head down up until just days before labor and had to end up with emergency c sections for both.

Good luck!! Remember after the c-section don't push yourself more than you should, accept any help people will give you, and rest as often as you can. (Hard with a new baby, but you know.) =)

I second this! And don't be nervous! A C-section is SO much easier than I thought it would be! I was so nervous and didn't want one. I was so worried abt the recovey time. I ended up in emergency C-section, and was surprised to be close to normal in 2 weeks... at least fully functioning! After that, it's slow for the nerve healing and everything but I have been pleasantly surprised! Good luck!

  • I feel the same way as MelissaO! My C-section was not a big deal either. I was high-risk and had a mindset that I would deliver that way early on. When it happened, I was mentally prepared so that wasn't an issue. The recovery was fine, and I feel as though I was back to normal within a few weeks with the exception of some numbness at the incision....which was better within 6 months. When they go to get you out of bed for the first few times, you will have some pain. Once you are up...you'll be good.

Good luck to you....Can't wait to see some pictures of your little one :)

  • Sorry to hear about the scare and the bedrest, but that's awesome he's full term now and ready to go. Best of luck with the delivery. Can't wait to see some adorable newborn photos when he's home.

  • Good luck with the delivery!  I had a c-section because DS was breech.  Remember to keep up on the meds - it will help with your healing.
