Awkward work day

Yesterday a co worker called in for a very stupid reason. She calls in quite often and yesterday was the last straw for my manager. He decided she's fired, and the remainder of us get our full 40 hours back. However, he will not be in the office today and he decided against calling her and telling her she was fired over the phone. Now she will be in the office today and we all know she will be fired on Tuesday. It's going to be a long day!

Really wasn't smart of your boss to tell you all that. What a liability today if someone slips. Just try to steer clear of her, I guess! Happy [Awkward] Friday!

That is very awkward... I hope no one spills the beans or starts dropping hints.  Then again...your co-worker may know or be expecting what's coming her way anyway.   At least it's Friday and you don't have to worry.  Have a great weekend!

Oh wow, that's kind of a sucky situation!  Yeah, your boss probably shouldn't have told you all, but hopefully no one will spill the beans.  Nonetheless, its always awkward when you know a co-worker is about to be let go...there's no way around it.

I used to cut final paychecks at my old job.  Usually I would be the first to find out after the fact, but there was a department head, so they wanted the check ready when they did the term.

It was akward to cut the check, and then go to a meeting, and she was in it.  She asked me to pull reports and stuff for her.

Well luckily the day went quickly and I was busy enough where I didn't have to socialize with her too much, so that helped! I'm just glad no drama happened.

I don't understand why some bosses tell employees things like this!  I had one once who used to tell us very inappropriate things about our co-workers.
