When you returned after to work after your maternity leave did you just jump right back in, started on Monday and worked a full work week/normal schedule?
or
did you go back on a modified schedule for a week or two?
I
was thinking about possibly going back on a Mon and working thru Wed
and then taking Thurs and Fri off so that I was easing myself into being
away from DD. Someone else suggested working half days all week.
DD is currently EBF and soon I will start pumping and introducing the bottle.
Thoughts?
Re: ? for the working mommas
After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!
I am planning on working part time and using vacation time to make up the rest of my hours for the 1st month or so. Haven't decided to do 1/2 days, or a couple full days yet.
I have been pumping about 5ozs a day for a couple weeks now to try to build up a supply for her. Genevieve took a bottle with no problem so now I can pump and leave it with DH and I can go out and run errands.
The Thursday and Friday before I went back to work (the following Monday) I put Sarah in daycare. 1/2 day on Thursday then a full day on Friday. Best thing I ever did...went home and cried on Thursday then Friday I made myself go out...mani, pedi, facial and a movie. I still cried a little bit but it wasn't as bad. Monday was my first full day back at work and it was easier having done it the way I did (at least for me).
Honestly, it was WAY harder on me than Sarah!
with both of them I started on a monday and worked the full 40 hours. Prior to going to back to work I had been away from them for an hour here and there. But I also knew my first week was going to be pretty light work so I wasn't too tired.
They both were great bottle drinkers and pumping went pretty easy and once I got my routine it was even easier.
I went straight into a full work week beginning on a Monday. The week before I would have my mom watch L while I went out and ran errands or visited with friends. This helped with the pumping too because there is so much stuff you need and you forget one part and it messes up your day. If anything I would do at least a few trial runs if you decide to go back in full force.
As soon as you are comfortable, start getting your LO used to the bottle. We did at 6-8 weeks and then it got so easy to just BF that we slacked off on the bottles and then when I went back to work when she was 3 months old she refused them. She went two days without eating so much as a few ounces and would catch up when I got home.
