Mom's and Mom's to be... got a question

DH and I will be TTC soon and I've started to look at hospitals and doctors.

I think I might have narrowed it down to two hospitals, but I need some opinions and want to hear some real life reviews.  I'm also looking for a new PCP and an OBGYN that are associated with those hospitals.

I have BCBS Blue Advantage HMO and am limited on choices of hospitals.

Northwestern,Loyola and other hospitals do not take my insurance.

I've been looking at Good Samaritan in Downers Grove and LaGrange Hospital in LaGrange.. Does anyone have any experience with either one of these? and if yes, could you recommend a doctor?

I would really appreciate the help..

Thank You

  • I don't have much experience with these hospitals but a friend of mine just had an emergency c-section at LaGrange and she was pretty happy with her doctors and the hospital staff. I think the downside to LaGrange is that they are not equipped to handle babies that have ICU needs. Her twins were born at 29 weeks and they were taken to Edwards.  I guess it's something to think about if your pregnancy could be high risk, like twins are.

  • My best friend had her son at Good Sam two years ago. She had an emergency c-section, and Ben was about 6 weeks premature, and ended up in the NICU.  Both my BF and her hubby are thrilled with the care both she and the baby got, and love the hospital.  She would tell you in a heartbeat to go with Good Sam, and I'm inclined to agree.

  • Thank you both!

I did not realize that LaGrange was not equipped to handle ICU needs for babies.

I was leaning towards Good Samaritan too... but just wanted to see what other opinions people had.

    thanks
