Anyone volunteer with their dc?

I SAH and I'd really like to start volunteering but I'm having trouble thinking outside the box. I'm sure there's a lot more opportunities than I'm thinking about. I have a 14 mo old ds. He doesn't like to sit still much. He LOVES our dogs so the only thing I cam think of is walking with or playing with the animals at a shelter. I think he's a little too rambunctious for an old folks home at this point. Any other ideas?

  • Have you considered the Junior League?

I am in the Junior League of York.  We do have some family friendly events, most of our volunteer events are on the weekends and the meetings in the evening.  We have a couple of "big" events a year, coming up we have Laura Bush coming for our speaker series (we have a different person each year).  The money we earn from that is given away in grants to local non-profits.

  • Thanks. I'll look into it. I really prefer something on the weekdays as DH likes to spend as much time with ds on the weekends as he can since he only sees him for an hour at most during the week.
