Hello...hello....hello...anyone out there...???

Hey ladies. What's up. I have news.  No I"m not pregnant. lol  I started taking pictures for a wedding photographer at weddings.  I love it and I get to go to a wedding every weekend (if I want).  I never thought I'd enjoy it so much. It just kind of fell in my lap.

Re: Hello...hello....hello...anyone out there...???

  • That's awesome news! Sounds really fun, too. Have you taken pictures at events before? Do you foresee a career switch in your future? I did my own flowers for my wedding and since then I've done several events for my high school and some baby showers...I daydream about doing something like that for a living. :)

I wrote a longish post yesterday but my connection at work timed out...anyway, I was just saying that I hope more people come back to this board! Its great to have it up and running.

    Have a great weekend!

  • Oh good deal! ?Ha, I'm sure glad there are people like you out there. ?I am a photographer, it's what my degree's in, and I absolutely hate shooting weddings. ? ?I'd much rather shoot senior portraits, but that's great for you. Do you see yourself doing this more and more, kind of as a career? ?Maybe you could post some of the shots you take? (although I know how copyright works) ?:)
  • Well, I would love to do it for a living to be honest, but I have no desire to run my own biz.  I'm happy just being the backup.  I bet I can post some of the shots I took. He gives me them on CD so I can look at them to see how I did and what I need to do better on.  I am horrible at lighting. I was a photog major for about 2 minutes in college and quit.  So, the photog thinks I have 'the eye'.  I had my first wedding last weekend and my next one is tomorrow.  He gave me the camera for two weeks and my siggy is a sample shot of my cat.  I also went over to a friends house to take 6-week old pics of her new baby.  From that I learned that I need to work on the basics like ISO and F-stop.  It's so different on digital.  when I learned (with film) it was a lot easier.  And I've never used a flash before.  The photog says all that can be learned, but 'the eye' can't.  So, I've been in the wedding recap room on the knot like crazy looking at different poses and such.  I think this has real potential for me and it's making up where my day job lacks in fun.
  • That's great! Who knows, maybe one day you will get tired of being back up person and want to start your own business!! :)
  • That's awesome and sounds like fun!!! I was interested for a while and still am in getting into wedding planning/coordinating. Besides my own wedding, I helped my sister plan hers and my best friend with hers. I love weddings and wish I could go to one every weekend Smile

  • That's awesome!  I would love to do that as a back-up and I bet brides love that you just got married too.  You know what they want to see in pictures.

    Congrats
