I am throwing a baby shower for my friend, and she wants to share with people her baby was conceived while she was on vacation in Niagara Falls Canada. We are also planning on doing the "beyond measure" measure spoons for her party favor. I wrote this little thing for her. Comments? Suggestions?
On one side
NIAGARA FALLS
One Wonder After Another
while s and c were vacationing at one of the great wonders of the world in niagara falls, canada...another GREAT WONDER was created. this great wonder will debut in early 2011!
Thank you for coming to
C?s baby shower!
December 4, 2010
On back side...
recipe for the great wonder
? a heap of perfection
? a spoonful of devotion
? a pinch of bliss
? a dash of kindness
and that?s how you create a love beyond measure
Re: Personalized Label?
This isn't for the invite, I don't think...it's part of the favors.
I like the back side about what it takes to create a "wonder" and I think it fits well with the measuring spoons. But I too would feel VERY awkward if there was a note attached that basically said "Oh, hey, guess how much unprotected sex we had on vacation? Apparently enough to make a baby!"
If she really wants people to know, can't she just tell them individually? Or, alternatively - if she really wants it as part of the shower, you could frame a picture of the parents-to-be on this specific vacation and have it on display somewhere (gift table? by the food?) with a little sign that says "The Beginning!" or "Now baby makes 3!" or something.
I think the idea is cute! I do think you say 'wonder' too many times on the front side. Maybe instead of the last line saying "this great wonder will debut in early 2011!" you could combine the 2nd to last and last sentences like this > another GREAT WONDER was created and will debut in early 2011!
Also, on the back side it doesn?t quite make sense. You are giving a recipe for ?The Great Wonder? but at the very end you say ?and that?s how you create a love beyond measure? So, you?re giving a ?recipe? but labeling it twice?kind of.
Here?s a suggestion:
A Love Beyond Measure: A Great Wonder
Recipe:
? a heap of perfection
? a spoonful of devotion
? a pinch of bliss
? a dash of kindness
Thanks for the comments. I think I will ask my friend for some pictures of her trip from Niagara Falls and do a small frame on the gift table about when/where the baby was conceived.
Then on the favor label, I will just use the recipe for creating a love beyond measure.
