had my first acupuncture treatment last night.. and i'm really excited about it!
for one thing, spencer (my acupuncturist) knew what PCOS stood for.. he's going to do some additional research, but i was encouraged that he knew what the general concept was and didn't have to ask. i was also encouraged that he knows about charting, and will want me to start charting at some point in our treatment plan so that we can see if i'm ovulating and see exactly what is going on in my body. he also looked really normal. haha... i'm not sure what i thought he would look like, but he was just a really nice, normal guy, although he was a lot calmer than most guys i know. ![]()
he took a very detailed history to begin, and asked lots of specific questions about my symptoms, even down to what my period was actually like when it happens, and how long my cycles are. he asked about things i didn't write on the history sheet, and was curious about my gallbladder surgery i had in january.
most of the needles didn't hurt going in (some i didn't even feel!), but a few he wanted my body to be aware of. he put a few in my feet, a few in my shins, and one over my uterus, and one over each ovary, as well as one over my stomach.
i go back next monday, and we're going to incorporate some herbs.
i'll keep you guys posted on my progress and how my body is changed through all of it if you want me to... i am fascinated, and i did sleep better last night.. i actually feel rested this morning! hooray!
Re: acupuncture
Just hearing about that gives me the shivers. But if it works, great!!! I'm surprised you didn't even feel some of them.
I really hope this works and will keep you in my prayers!

I'll be keeping your in my prayers too!
I was never one to believe in alternative styles of treatment, but I have started to change the way I think and feel about it.
It took DH and I 11 months to get pregnant. I did not ovulate one time in the first 10 months, but 3 weeks before I found out I was pregnant I had a massage. It is a real possibility that the maseuse (sp) hit some kind of pressure point causing my body to ovulate.
Best of luck to you, and keep us updated!
