St. Louis weddings

I know we have St. Louis people here.  I was there over the Labor Day weekend.  We live in Richmond, but my husband works in St. Louis during the week...so this past weekend I went to see him instead of the other way around.  On Saturday we went to the Arch and then to St. Charles for dinner and shopping around the historic area.  I saw no less that 6 weddings (not to mention the HUGE crowds from the Cardinals game, the MU/UI game, and the Blues festival...traffic!!!!!).  Four of them were taking photos at the riverfront and the Arch and the other two at the river in St. Charles.

My question is this.  How the heck do you take a wedding photo of a bridal party and get the Arch into it?  It was WAY bigger in person than I thought it was going to be!

My baby girl is a married woman...and now my baby girl HAS a baby girl. Time unfolds in such an amazing way. I've been blessed!

Re: St. Louis weddings

  • You can lay down on the ground and shoot up, or you can line everyone one up on the big patch of grass behind the arch and shoot them with your back facing the city. Wink  It is huge....my grandpa actually helped build it.  You came on a VERY busy weekend, lots of events going on downtown.  Did you like St. Charles?  I love eating in that area and people watching, especially the horse carriages.  They have cute little shops too.
  • I live here in St. Louis, but our wedding was in northern IL.  I was sad that I didn't get wedding pictures downtown STL, but I guess everyone does it.

If you go a couple of blocks west of the arch, there's a courthouse that fits "under" that looks pretty neat...

I've even seen a wedding party IN that waterfall, which looks cool.  There's enough room on those flat stones to stand, so you get the warter, the courthouse, and the arch!

There's also a large grassy park kind of area just north of the arch so you get a cool side view.

I hope you had a good visit while you were here.  You did come on a busy weekend... unfortunately, it's not usually like that.  It's usually kind of boring downtown on the weekends.
