At the moment I'm leaning towards the Canon because of the awesome customer reviews, buuuuut the Nikon is almost $100 dollars cheaper. I want to get the best value for my money. What do you think?

Canon, hands down. I've always had Canon digitals, and have the SX20 and it's predecessor before that. I've never regretted them and always get compliments on the photos it takes (on the Auto setting).

See, I feel the same way about Nikon   I would honestly go to a a store and look at them, press some buttons and take some pictures.  Canon and Nikon are both great camera makers, so it really comes down to what you like, not which is better quality.

I've had both brands before, and will choose a Canon over a Nikon anyday. That said, it really depends on what you are looking for. Is the extra quality in the Canon worth the $100, or will the Nikon suit your needs just fine? If so, save the $100!

I have the Canon SX20 and absolutely love it!  It takes awesome pictures.  It's a bit bulky and can get heavy after a while, but it's totally worth it.
