Stop forwarding me things, Aunt Nancy

http://www.stopforwarding.us/

I'm to wussy to use this, but I think it's a good idea. If you have a friend/relative who sends too many meaningless forwards, you can use this service to try and get them to stop...

Here's the anonymous email sent:

Hi [name],

One of your friends has sent you this message from StopForwarding.Us, a website that allows individuals to anonymously email their friends and politely ask that they stop the habit of sending forwarded emails or FWDs.

Please do not forward chain letters, urban myths presented as truth, potentially offensive jokes, videos or photos without being asked or first receiving permission. If you find something that is funny and it is clean and you genuinely think the recipient will enjoy it then forward it to that person only (not in an email blast to all your friends and family) and include a personal note about why you enjoyed it and why you think they will too. Avoid sending forwards to friends or relatives that you've grown distant with. It can be frustrating for the recipient when the only correspondence he or she has with someone is via impersonal, unwanted email.

For more tips on email etiquette, visit StopForwarding.Us/etiq.html

Thank you,
A Friend (via stopforwarding.us)

  • I am totally using this for my crazy customer.

  • OMG- I almost peed my pants at your subject line- my AUNT NANCY forwards us political crap CONSTANTLY!  And DH can't help but argue with her- it's never ending!!

    This is awesome! hahha

  • lol Goldie. It must be an Aunt Nancy thing, because mine forwards me random crap almost daily.
  • Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!

I need to send this to my mother. Despite being a successful entrepreneur, she is a friggin computer illiterate. I heart her, but she only just got email a few years ago...and a blackberry about two months ago.

So it's just NOW that she's discovered the "joys" of email forwards. She sends them all.the.time.

Not necessarily political ones, but pictures of cute kittens. Jokes. bla bla bla bla bla...and then if I don't respond, she'll call all worried and say, "Are you okay? Didn't you get my email?"

Sigh. I don't know how to respond to half the things she sends me. And 99% of them, I delete once I realize they're fwds. I think if I sent her this email, she'd think I was being rude, lol.

  • I have an Aunt Nancy, too, but we just complain about the crazy forwards my grandpa sends us.
