Hello everyone!  I am new to this board and wanted to introduce myself.  My name is Melissa and I live in Mesa.  I moved here nine years ago from New Jersey.  My husband and I have been together for nine years and married for two.  I've been working in the insurance industry for the past three years but currently I am on maternity leave. My daughter Hannah was born 2 and 1/2 weeks ago and I am loving being a new mom!  This is the first time that I have stayed at home and not worked for longer than two weeks and I am finding that I have a lot of free time on my hands.  There's only so much cleaning that I can (or want) to do in a day!

I hope everyone is having a great Thursday!

Re: Introduction

  • Hi and welcome to the board! Congrats on your new baby! Hannah is such a pretty name. We might need to seem some pics of her, if you don't mind showing them... we sort of like babies around here.  ;)

I'm due on Saturday and I'm wondering how I'm going to respond to being on leave. I've worked constantly since I was 15 years old, so it will definitely be a change of pace, although I imagine that taking care of a newborn is just as much "work" as anything else! I do plan to work part-time from home during most of my leave, though. How long are you taking off?

  • Welcome and congrats on your daughter. Her name is beautiful. I bet she's so cute and teeny tiny! I'd love to see pictures! hehe

  • Congratulations and welcome to the board!  From what I hear the maternity leave flies by, have a great time off from work!  I'm looking forward to my leave starting in December for when our little one arrives.

I had planned on taking 6 or 8 weeks leave, but I might go back sooner.  I thought the same thing that having a newborn would keep me busy around the clock.  But it's been pretty easy so far.  She's been sleeping a lot.  I thought that she would be constantly hungry or needing to be changed or held but I guess that comes later :)

So you're due on Saturday that's exciting!  Do you know if you're having a boy or girl?

  • Hi! And welcome! I live in Chandler and work in the Insurance industry as well.

Thank you!  I see you're getting married soon congratulations!  I remember when I was planning my wedding time seemed to move super slow until about a month or two before, then time just flew by.  Are you getting anxious for the big day?

Thank you.  Yea, I am getting anxious and way super duper excited! Haha? I seriously feel like it was just a couple months ago we got engaged but it was almost a year ago.  I really do think someone is playing with the clocks because time is just going by so fast.  I feel like I still have a lot to do but I really just have little things and my mom and FMIL are going to help me with most of them so it won?t be too bad.  I went onto our registry today just to make sure everything was ok and there weren?t any issues with any items being discontinued and saw some stuff has been purchased? that is exciting he-he I am going to stay out of the registry now until after my bridal shower next weekend.  I want to be surprised =)
