Moving & Need Landscape Help
We are going to list our house this month. We aren't big into gardening but I really like the look of French gardens (lots of gravel walkways). So we have a truckload of gravel, but what plants should I get? Should I get some potted ones? Should I get some bushes? Its fall here & raining a lot. Is this a good time to plant? At the same time I don't want to spend a ton of $$$ on something that I won't be able to take with me in the move. Suggestions?
Re: Moving & Need Landscape Help
So you want to do this for your current house? I think it'd be a waste of time and money. Save the idea for your new house. What you're describing is a very involved project and not one you can take with you, so it's not a very practical idea for someone about to sell.
For your current house, I'd just make sure whatever you have presently is neat and tidy and I'd put out pots of pansies and mums for color.

Thinking of doing cosmetic updates to a dated home? These were our costs.
I agree! My gosh, why on earth would you begin such a project... YOU love gravel paths, so you think everyone else will? I hate them! I'd be so miserable thinking about how to get rid of them, I wouldn't buy the house if I wasn't desperate. Save it for your next house.
Ask your realtor- they'll probably tell you exactly what TarHeels told you.
ok no plants. thanks.
we will still have to have a lil gravel though, we are putting in a french drain to divert water away from the house, but i'll forget about the french garden.
This. You need to spruce up the landscape with plants; and this is what you should do. Forget the other stuff. Unless everyone in that real estate market landscapes with truckloads of gravel as soon as they buy a new house, it would probably be a negative.
