Dinner for IL's

Crap... DH's parents are stopping by Sunday night around 6:30-7 on their way home from somewhere and DH said we would do dinner.

Normally, I wouldn't care, but his parents are picky eaters and don't like anything that isn't plain and simple.  I don't really do plain and simple.

Dessert i'm going to make white chocolate raspberry brownies.  So that's taken care of, but what the heck else do I serve?!?!

I'm thinking corn on the cob, grilled potatoes and um..no idea.

Re: Dinner for IL's

  • We made this yesterday - and it was FABULOUS.

    Coke Roast:

    • 1 beef roast, 3-4 lbs.
    • 1 can Coca-Cola
    • 1 package onion soup mix
    • 1 bottle chili sauce
    1. Place all ingredients in crock-pot and cook for 7-10 hours depending on size of roast.
    2. The meat will flake apart when done. Serve over mashed potatoes.

I had a 3 lb-ish roast, stuck it in the slow cooker in the morning - cooked it for 10 hours and then shredded it up in the cooker. It sat in the juices on "warm" for about an hour or so (because we weren't ready for dinner yet lol)..... and we put it on buns..... so good.  And easy.  And it would be good with corn on the cob and grilled potatoes.  :-)

  • That sounds really good!  I think I'll save that for us...

I'm thinking Chilli for Sunday... Chilli with some Corn on the Cob, Corn bread etc.
